Developing Kindness and Compassion in Youth

Most of us would agree that kindness and compassion are great qualities, but what are we doing to teach these values to our young people? Tools for Peace (toolsforpeace.org) strengthens emotional and social intelligence through an in-school curriculum and an app promoting mindfulness. TFP was founded in 2000 by a group of volunteers and has now grown to 2.5 full-time staff and several seasonal employees. As part of their transition from an all-volunteer organization, they need to develop a human resources infrastructure and they knew JRP’s bench of professional volunteers would include an HR volunteer. Employment attorney Jacklin Rad is working with TFP to develop good job descriptions and contracts, a hiring and orientation process and an employee manual. By helping TFP be a well-run organization, Jacklin will help the future generation be kind and compassionate and build peace – what a worthy outcome for generations to come!
