An Out-of-the-Box Radio Station

KCHUNG Radio is definitely not a top-40, pop radio station; it’s a low-wattage radio station and art collective in Los Angeles with a reach far beyond the range of its broadcast signal. KCHUNG produces about 100 programs each month by different contributors. The station broadcasts on 1630AM from Chinatown and online at kchungradio.org. KCHUNG was under the fiscal sponsorship of the Pasadena Arts Council, but recently got a large grant, for which they needed their own nonprofit status. Although they support innovative art, they realize that innovation doesn’t apply to good financial management. So they asked JRP for help setting up their accounting procedures so that they start their organization off on the right financial foundation. JRP volunteer Gary Breaux, whose day job is as CFO of a multi-billion dollar corporation, has become an experts in helping new and small nonprofits develop the right financial practices to support growth. Thanks to Gary for helping fledgling nonprofits and thanks to KCHUNG for promoting new ways of thinking and expressing!
