SUMMARY:Practicing Joy in Times of Crisis: Filling the Well (virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Community Gatherings that Restore & Renew \n\n\n\nIf you work in nonprofits or community spaces and have been holding the heartbreak of wildfires\, political violence\, and ongoing collective crises\, this space is for you. Practicing Joy in Times of Crisis is a series of 10 community gatherings\, five virtual and five in-person\, designed to help you reconnect with joy and hope as intentional practices. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFilling the Well: Sustainable Self-Care for Movement Work (virtual) \n\n\n\nAugust 18\, 12:00-1:00 \n\n\n\nWith Felina Danalis  \n\n\n\nWhen we are constantly giving to our communities\, our causes\, and our people \, it is easy to forget that we too need to be replenished. Burnout is not a personal failure. It is what happens when we pour from an empty cup for too long. \n\n\n\nIn this virtual gathering\, we’ll explore what it means to resource ourselves not as an afterthought\, but as a practice. This is as essential to the work as any strategy or campaign. We’ll look honestly at what burns us out\, what inspires us\, and what gets in the way of letting ourselves be restored. \n\n\n\nThrough guided reflection\, embodied practice\, and community dialogue\, we’ll explore how sustainable self-care is not indulgent\, but how we protect our capacity to keep showing up for what matters most. \n\n\n\nWe’ll share some simple practices with you that you can return to on your own whenever you feel depleted or like you’re burning out.  \n\n\n\nWhether you’re feeling depleted\, curious\, or somewhere in between; there’s room for you here. \n\n\n\nThis series is presented in partnership with A Thousand Joys. \n\n\n\nThese gatherings are not about bypassing pain. Joy includes our grief. It includes our exhaustion. It includes our rage. Together\, through movement\, music\, restorative practices\, reflection\, and community dialogue\, we will reset our nervous systems and replenish our spirits. When we care for ourselves\, we strengthen our capacity to show up for the people and communities who rely on us. Sustainable service requires sustainable self-care. \n\n\n\nThese events are free due to the generous community Foundation support.

SUMMARY:Horticulture for Healing
DESCRIPTION:Horticulture for Healing at Arlington Garden \n\n\n\nHorticulture for Healing is a free workshop series for nonprofit and community-based organization employees impacted by the Eaton and Palisades fires. Hosted by The Planted Brain and Jericho Road of Pasadena at Arlington Garden in Pasadena\, these hands-on sessions use plants\, nature\, and somatic practice to support rest\, restoration\, and healing for those who have been holding others through the crisis. \n\n\n\nAbout The Planted Brain \n\n\n\nThe Planted Brain\, Inc. is a Los Angeles-based 501(c)3 nonprofit redefining what mental health care can look like. The Planted Brain aims to make mental health care accessible\, trauma-informed\, culturally rooted\, and grounded in the healing power of nature. \n\n\n\nFounded by David S. Washington\, LCSW\, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker\, UC-certified Master Gardener\, and Certified Therapeutic Horticulture practitioner with over 15 years of clinical experience. The Planted Brain was built on a simple but radical belief: healing doesn’t only happen in clinical settings. It happens in gardens\, in circles\, in community. \n\n\n\nThis activity is facilitated by David Washington. His approach is compassionate\, steady\, and rooted in helping people feel grounded and supported. \n\n\n\nPhotography and Media Notice \n\n\n\nThis session may be photographed or recorded. By attending\, you acknowledge that your image or likeness may be used by Jericho Road Pasadena\, A Thousand Joys\, and funding partners for communications\, reporting\, and promotional purposes. \n\n\n\nThese events are free due to the generous community Foundation support.
