JRP has several ways of placing board members; people who haven’t served on a board before can attend our annual Leadership Connection class; others may be our volunteers who are interested in board service; yet others are community members who hear about our match-making service. Mishka Michon moved to Pasadena a couple of years ago after retiring from a career in nonprofit management, so knew boards inside and out, but hadn’t connected to the right organization in her new hometown. JRP Exec. Dir. Melanie Goodyear met with Mishka for an hour or so in Nov and knew she’d make a great board member for Family Promise of San Gabriel Valley, which supports homeless families.
