Pasadena to Tanzania

At least 33 million people are infected with HIV worldwide. A full 28 million of them live in sub-Saharan Africa, with very limited access to medical care. Pasadena nonprofit Phil Simon Clinic Tanzania Project is responding to this global crisis by providing clinical care, education and other support to Tanzanian agencies involved in HIV/AIDS, internal medicine and orthopedic/reconstructive surgery, along with an educational scholarship program. Asked to help them organize their board, Jericho Road sent executive board coach Mitch Dorger to share his years of experience in organizational leadership and development. Working together, he and the board created a guide designed to allow robust board function and enhance board development and recruitment. For more about the clinic’s work, visit philsimontanzania.org
