Throwback Thursday: A Perfect Partnership with Villa Esperanza

JRP has provided many pro bono consultants to Villa Esperanza, a wonderful nonprofit, which is devoted to the care and education of a diverse disabled population of children, adults, and seniors.

From July 2012: Volunteer Bob Harrison (owner of Green Street Restaurant) just finished a project evaluating Villa Esperanza Services’ (www.villaesperanzaservices.org) food services program. VES has nine residential facilities for developmentally disabled adults as well as a day school for disabled kids, with food served at all the facilities. Being an expert in food services, Bob thought their program was really well-run, but suggested a couple of ways for VES to save time and money. This lead to JRP volunteer Ray setting up a more automated process for each site to order groceries, which will save the Program Manager at least a couple of hours a week, as well as saving site staff time. The Program Manager is really excited about saving so much time, as she wears many hats and can dedicate that time to other tasks. Although Bob and Ray felt that it was an easy project for them, the long-term impact of VES staff, and therefore on their clients, will be huge. Just think of 10 extra hours a month!
