Building a Flexible Board

If your organization is yoga-related, you should have a flexible board, right? But building good boards is hard for most nonprofits. JRP has done many projects for School Yoga, which teaches mindfulness techniques rooted in yoga to teachers and kids for better focus (and thereby better academic outcomes), better classroom management and generally happier and calmer kids. Founder Kelly Wood has a small board but the organization is growing and she needs new board members to expand. Veteran JRP volunteer Anne Kennedy worked with Kelly to identify the best ways to expand a board beyond founder phase.

Kelly said of Anne: “It was a delight to work with Anne! She listened, guided and informed me of practical ways to grow the SCHOOL Board of Directors.” Thanks to Kelly for helping kids thrive in school and in life and to Anne for sharing her board expertise!
