Board Service: David Shechtman
David Shechtman is the longest standing board member for Jericho Road Pasadena and has been an important part of JRP’s growth; David is happy to see the results of his board work as JRP celebrates our 10th anniversary!
David is a partner at the boutique consulting firm Evolution and a certified professional business coach. David officially joined the JRP board in 2015 but has been involved with our organization since our founding 10 years ago, serving as one of our first volunteers:
“My first JRP project was with Villa Esperanza and it was particularly meaningful to me. The organization was struggling, and during the project itself, the founder of the organization was diagnosed with a serious illness. We helped the organization survive the tough time. It was very satisfying to lend so much support.
Working with nonprofits that are stretched thin with their capital and budget and don’t have the capacity my professional clients have, I get a sense of how much nonprofits value the work. The reason I do this work is to be helpful and impactful.
I feel like volunteering with JRP is a win-win. I get to do the professional work I enjoy and people who need that expertise get that work that they wouldn’t have been able to financially afford otherwise.”
On celebrating JRP’s 10th anniversary:
“Having been around JRP from inception, I wasn’t necessarily sure we would succeed–sustaining anything over time is hard. I just want to acknowledge the fact that not only have we survived, we have grown and expanded and continued our success with a complete turn over of board members and have gotten through challenging times around us. It shows me what a small group of committed people can accomplish, with equal parts heart, vision and competence.”
