A child care leader takes stock

Reaching a major milestone is an exciting experience for any organization. But it’s also a good time to pause and refocus. JRP volunteer Janice Tsao recently helped the Altadena Children’s Center do just that when Toni Boucher, the organization’s Executive Director since its founding in 1982, retired and noted child care administrator Shonna Clark took the helm.

Janice set out to give the ACC Board a SWOT analysis—a clear snapshot of the organization’s current strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Her analysis, based on individual interviews with each board member, enabled ACC’s leadership to identify key areas for growth and zero in on the best ways to support the organization as it moves forward.

Rated among the top LA County children’s centers for early childhood care and education by Quality Start LA, ACC is highly regarded among families, educators and community leaders for nearly forty years of superb child care and early childhood education. Serving over sixty children from two months through pre-kindergarten, it offers daycare, preschool and child care in a homelike atmosphere of three small houses with well-equipped outdoor areas.

Under the leadership of an experienced team of professionals, the Center’s Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers & Preschoolers is designed to help children build skills that enhance their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Every aspect of the program is carefully designed to meet the specific needs of each child and family.

JRP is proud to have offered Altadena Children’s Center valuable perspective as it enters a new era in its growth!
