Flashback Friday: The Drama of General Hospital

From April 2012:

I have a vague memory of the soap opera General Hospital and the drama that went on with the doctors and nurses. I was at Los Angeles County Medical Center this morning, placing a great new volunteer with their Auxiliary, CARES (www.lacusc.org/cares/default.aspx). While I hope there’s not so much drama with the staff, patients go through incredible suffering every day. Many of the patients are low-income, so can’t afford child care when they have appointments; CARES provides a pre-school so that patients, whether regular patients with on-going treatment, or one-time patients can leave their kids in a nurturing, educational setting. The JRP volunteer will help CARES upgrade their financial policies and procedures, enabling them to expand funding and programs. Thanks to JRP volunteer Trip Oldfield for his time and expertise, and congrats to CARES for helping sick people focus on getting healthy.

Trip will teach JRP’s 4-part Effective Board workshop on Resource Development on August 20 & 27 and September 10 & 17, 2021 9:30 – 11:30 am; visit https://jrpasadena.org/events/effective-board-workshop-fund-development/ for more information.
