Teaching Board members to make “the ask”
For most nonprofit board members, helping to govern and lead an organization is the exhilarating part.
Asking people for money? Not so much.
Few people feel comfortable asking friends or family for donations. And even fewer have any formal training in the art of effective fundraising.
In four 9:30–11:30 a.m. sessions on August 20 and 27 and September 10 and 17, Jericho Road Pasadena will change all that with a four-part workshop that draws on proven strategies and practical guidance from the latest philanthropic data and research on more comfortably and effectively making “the ask.”
The sessions will be led by Trip Oldfield, a noted expert with more than two decades of experience in leading, fundraising and consulting for nonprofit organizations. The workshop is open to anyone who currently serves on a board, is interested in board service or works for a nonprofit.
Participants will not only come away with the skills to identify, educate, cultivate, ask, and steward donors, but the ability to recognize and leverage their own unique strengths to help meet their organizations’ fundraising goals.
Admission to the full workshop is $125. A limited number of $75 discounted tickets are available for those unable to pay the regular rate. Purchase tickets at https://effectiveboardresourcedev2021.eventbrite.com/.
