At Jericho Road Pasadena, our volunteers bring deep professional experience and a strong commitment to strengthening the nonprofit community. Ashok Boghani exemplifies how strategic expertise, thoughtful leadership, and a spirit of service can help mission-driven organizations grow and thrive.

Turning Strategic Experience into Community Impact

After a long career as a consultant for major commercial firms, Ashok now dedicates his time to helping nonprofits clarify their vision and plan for sustainable growth. Through Jericho Road, he has led visioning workshops, facilitated leadership discussions, and guided organizations through strategic planning processes that turn ideas into clear, actionable goals.

In one project, Ashok worked with a nonprofit serving immigrant families and children in Azusa to develop a comprehensive five-year strategic plan. After facilitating a visioning session, he helped leadership identify priorities and align staff around four key strategic goals.

In another engagement, he partnered with a nonprofit built around a coffee shop that trains and employs youth experiencing homelessness. Through a strategic planning workshop, Ashok helped the team define a shared three-year vision and the priorities needed to move that vision forward.

Across each project, Ashok brings structure, clarity, and a collaborative approach that helps organizations focus their energy and move forward with confidence.

Why the Work Matters

One insight that continues to motivate Ashok is the impact that professional guidance can have on small nonprofits. Many organizations are founded by passionate leaders with strong missions, but they often lack the strategic planning and management resources needed to grow effectively.

Seeing teams gain alignment and momentum through structured planning is, in his words, both valuable and deeply satisfying.

A Purposeful Approach to Retirement and Service

Ashok’s volunteer work reflects a broader philosophy of purposeful living. In his personal writing, he shares reflections on learning, creativity, travel, technology, and life after retirement. He views this stage not as slowing down, but as an opportunity to stay intellectually engaged, contribute meaningfully to society, and continue growing.

This mindset of curiosity and lifelong learning shapes the way he approaches both his volunteer work and his life.

Why Skills-Based Volunteering Makes a Difference

Ashok believes that everyone can contribute to the betterment of society. While financial support and hands-on service are important, professional skills can create lasting impact by helping nonprofits become more effective and sustainable.

As an immigrant who built a career in consulting, he finds particular meaning in using his experience to support organizations serving communities facing challenges.

He encourages other professionals to consider skills-based volunteering:

“Give it a shot. You may be surprised how much value you can provide to make a nonprofit more successful. In return, you will gain enormous satisfaction.

We are grateful for Ashok’s ongoing partnership and for the insight, structure, and dedication he brings to every project.

If you have professional skills and want to make a difference in your community, we invite you to volunteer your expertise.
