Long-time JRP volunteer Gary Breaux has recently joined the board of the Academy of Music for the Blind (AMB) after completing a finance project for them through JRP. AMB was founded by David and Gayle Pinto in 2005 to address the unique talents and challenges of blind youth by developing their musical, creative, cognitive, physical and social skills through education in music and the performing arts. Drawing youth from all over the Southland, these kids are wonderful performers and the organization was highlighted on 60 Minutes.
Gary retired as the Chief Financial Officer of the Metropolitan Water Authority in 2018; his budget there was over $1B, but he has no trouble translating finance best practices for AMB and many other nonprofits. He has completed 9 projects for local nonprofits through JRP, worth over $20,000, all free to the organizations. Although Gary’s talent isn’t music, he has brought more beautiful music into the world and enriched the lives of disabled children by sharing his finance acumen. Thank you, Gary!
