Starting A Nonprofit
JRP may be able to provide one 1-hour consultation. During the consultation, we’ll discuss what other agencies may offer similar services, the differences between using a fiscal sponsor and starting a nonprofit, and some fundamentals of starting a nonprofit.

- Center for Nonprofit Management has a resource page for starting a nonprofit.
- California Association of Nonprofits: CalNonprofits has many resources for nonprofits, including this guide to questions to consider before starting a nonprofit and steps to incorporate.
- Pasadena City College has an online course in starting a nonprofit. PCC also has a Small Business Development Center which can assist nonprofits as well.
- Incorporation Information: NOLO publishes many books and law articles, and this is a great step-by-step guide to incorporating federally and with the State of California.
Board Development
- The African American Board Leadership Institute strengthens nonprofit, public and private organizations through recruiting, preparing, and assisting with the placement of African Americans on a broad range of governing boards.
- Board Source inspires and supports excellence in nonprofit governance and board and staff leadership.
- Latinos Lead promotes more inclusive and effective civil society organizations by preparing and recruiting Latinos for nonprofit board leadership; helping nonprofit organizations to develop governing boards that reflect their constituents; and, collaborating with partners to increase ethnic diversity in nonprofit governance.

- Pasadena Philanthropy Library includes a database of foundations and resources covers all areas of nonprofit management, including board development, fundraising, budgeting and more. Located at La Pintoresca Branch Library, 1355 North Raymond Avenue, in Pasadena.

Leadership Support
- Annenberg Alchemy is a free capacity building and leadership development program designed to assist small to midsize Los Angeles-based nonprofit organizations and their leaders.
- California Association of Nonprofits (CalNonprofits) is a statewide membership organization that brings nonprofits together to advocate for the communities we serve. Their free resources include Nonprofit Insurance Services, Nonprofit Compliance Checklist, and many great resources for members.
- Center for Nonprofit Management fosters thriving communities in Southern California by ensuring that nonprofit leaders and organizations have the knowledge, skills, and resources to fulfill their mission.
- Executive Service Corps is a leading nonprofit provider of high-impact, affordable management development services to other nonprofits in Southern California.
- The Riordan Leadership Institute is an educational program under the Southern California Leadership Network whose mission is to develop and cultivate business professionals for lifelong service in the nonprofit community.

- Day One Community Directory: This directory is intended to help connect residents across the San Gabriel Valley with resources in their local communities and enhance the health and wellness of our communities.
