For current and aspiring EDs/CEOs.

This intensive program empowers participants with the essential skills and knowledge to thrive as leaders in nonprofit organizations.

Program Details

Duration: Four Fridays in April 2025, 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Format: In-person with lunch included
Instructor: Zoot Velasco
Materials: Includes Zoot’s latest book and a comprehensive set of organizational templates

Program Overview:
This intensive training program focuses on the core skills needed to lead a nonprofit organization effectively. Topics include leadership, management, innovation, vision planning, fund development, board and staff development, program development, grantsmanship, marketing, and succession planning. The content is based on research from a study conducted by the Gianneschi Center, examining nonprofits that thrived during the Great Recession.

Diversity & Inclusion:
We encourage applications from people of color, as they are underrepresented in nonprofit leadership roles. Our program strives to create a diverse and inclusive learning environment.

Who Should Apply:

  • New Executive Directors/CEOs of 501(c)(3) organizations
  • Staff members aiming for executive roles

Prerequisites:
Participants should have basic knowledge of:

  • 501(c)(3) organizations, their structure, and operations
  • Budgeting and financial management
  • Fundraising, marketing, and program development in the nonprofit sector
  • A laptop or smart device with MS Office or Google Drive apps

Led by Zoot Velasco, a college instructor and author, the training provides participants with best practices, a strong network, and the confidence to navigate the challenges of a CEO role. Additionally, it emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion by preparing senior staff to step into executive positions, helping create more diverse leadership in nonprofit organizations.
