The NAACP has been instrumental in increasing equality and opportunity for African-Americans for over a century; Pasadena’s chapter is more than 60 years old. Although we’re seeing a new era of analysis of race relations and promotion of diversity, equity and inclusion, keeping the NAACP relevant and modern is a challenge. So NAACP Pasadena came to JRP for assistance in creating a strategic plan. Volunteer Joy Fay worked with Board Vice Chair Allen Edson to look at current needs in Pasadena’s African-American population, other agencies working for equality and NAACP’s message to both young and old members. The project helped focus the local chapter on access to education and affordable housing as its primary issues for the next few years.
Many thanks to the NAACP for promoting equality for all and thanks to Joe for helping the local chapter stay strong and relevant.
