Elizabeth House has provided shelter, hope and support to homeless pregnant women and their children for over 20 years. No for-profit or nonprofit business survives that long without highly skilled management – and that’s something this organization is known for. But they felt they could do even better – so Executive Director Debbie Unruh reached out to JRP to take a look at their financial infrastructure and make sure their financial reporting followed best practices and supported growth. JRP asked volunteer Edrina Calderon, an accountant, to review their approaches to forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and tracking. “Edrina was extremely helpful, and quickly grasped the needs and financial picture of our organization,” says Debbie. “We are now clearer and more united around fundraising goals and budgets – and excited to launch our planned giving program.” Many thanks to Edrina for sharing her skills with Elizabeth House – and also for joining the board of Ten Thousand Villages as Treasurer!
