K9 Youth Alliance is an organization fueled by an awesome idea: teaching at-risk teens to train shelter dogs. Guided by K9YA staff and volunteers, the teens learn responsibility and self-discipline while creating well-trained, socialized dogs who are much more likely to be adopted. JRP has done a lot of work with the organization including program and board development, with volunteer Leslie Swanson joining their board. Now JRP has connected K9YA with another new board member, Avalon Economou, who already loves the kids, the dogs and the board. As a business owner, Avalon has not only been helping the organization tighten business practices, but has even donated pizza. (For the kids, not the dogs). 21 tail wags to her for joining the board! (Note to Avalon: we may not be as cute as kids or puppies, but the JRP team welcomes pizza donations too.)
