Shepherd’s Pantry (shepherdspantry.com)in Glendora provides emergency food, clothing, resource assistance and educational programs to families in need during times of crisis. They are a well-run organization that grew out of a church ministry to provide food to shut-ins; since starting in 2004, they have added the food pantry, clothing distribution, hair cutting and tutoring to families in need in the east end of the San Gabriel Valley. In addition to thoughtful expansion of services, they are thoughtful about building good infrastructure, so they asked JRP to help create a comprehensive policies & procedures manual. Long-time JRP volunteer Mimi is now working with them to create a good manual, while thinking about how good policies can affect good board and staff development, and organizational efficiency and growth, all of which will give poor families a hand up. Thanks to the many volunteers at Shepherd’s Pantry for helping people in need and to Mimi to helping this great organization provide even better assistance!
