Films can teach us about others and build empathy, much needed in our divided world. Level Ground was started in 2015 to build conversations between Christian and LGBTQ communities and has expanded a variety of programs using art to open minds and hearts.

When Dave Crafts moved to Southern California to be the Dean of Students at Pacific Oaks College, he wanted to get to know his new community and get involved in doing good work. He heard about JRP’s board matching service and called us soon after arriving in Pasadena. Pacific Oaks was started by the Society of Friends (or Quakers) so we thought that Level Ground’s mission to build peace and understanding would be a good fit for him; he was immediately drawn to the innovative work they’re doing to bring people together and promote a variety of art forms that make us think and learn. He officially joined their board in December and is looking forward to supporting their organizational growth. Thanks, Dave, for getting involved in your new community, and to Level Ground for helping us more aware of our shared humanity!
