JRP Volunteer Spotlight: Chris Arnold
Jericho Road Pasadena‘s mission is to bridge communities by matching the professional talents of volunteers with the needs of community-based nonprofit organizations to promote community development, strengthen social services, and enrich the lives of volunteers.
We value each and every volunteer who gives their time to our organization and are highlighting their work through a series of Volunteer Spotlights. JRP loves its volunteers who make our work possible!
Chris Arnold is a filmmaker and JRP volunteer. Chris has completed over 635 hours of volunteer time with the JRP skilled volunteer program.
As a filmmaker, Chris gained experience creating films for studios before applying his professional skills as a volunteer for causes he is passionate about:
“What I like about Jericho Road Pasadena is the idea. It’s a great idea. There are people like me who are retired or semi-retired that have skills they are still able to do and they like working with people and doing the work they’ve done. Being a filmmaker has been a great career for me and I enjoy it, so being able to use those skills with JRP wonderful.”
Chris has partnered with JRP to complete pro bono video projects with local nonprofits such as AbilityFirst, Girls on the Run, and the Pasadena Educational Foundation:
“Video production with the Pasadena Educational Foundation was a wonderful project to be involved with–those people were really on board. We were making a creative thing that is largely informational and everything you do on film has some kind of style and content–a bridge between style and content.
We sat down and they explained everything they wanted to say, and it was hard to come up with a concept to contain all this information and keep it under 6 minutes. They actually came up with the answer, they solved the problem. Pasadena Educational Foundation had an event coming up and thought if they could shoot the event it would cover what they wanted to say. It was great. In meeting with them and collaborating we got it done. They had the answers, I just needed to explain the problem to them.”
In addition to his volunteer work with JRP, Chris has an extensive history of creating videos for other nonprofits and is particularly passionate about nonprofits serving students with autism and their families. We thank Chris for his service!
