Music Builds a Positive Community
Many people have heard of ‘El Sistema,’ the Venezuelan youth music program that helps kids thrive; the conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Gustavo Dudamel, came through the program. More locally, Caesura Youth Orchestra uses the El Sistema model to provide urban youth with a positive community where they can through music experience a break from the negative impact of drugs, gangs and economic disadvantages.
Earlier in the year, JRP placed nonprofit veteran David Fields on the CYO board, which has been a great match.Bringing years of experience, David has already helped CYO create a board development plan. As a new organization, tapping into David’s many years of experience will help them grow and be sustainable, even through this difficult time.
