STEM Like a Girl
- As of 2019, women hold just 29% of jobs in STEM fields.
- All-female founded startups make up just 2.5% of all startups backed by venture-capitalist firms as of 2019.
- By age 6, both boys and girls associate intelligence with men.
Boundless Brilliance educates, empowers, and engages students in order to close the gender gap in science, technology, engineering and math. Not surprisingly, their board was mostly women, so they wanted to have better gender balance there too. JRP recently placed engineer Chris Murphy on the BB board. As a new and rapidly-growing organization, BB needed leadership that not only knows STEM fields but also has business experience. Chris has worked and run several engineering companies, so was the perfect fit. Thanks, Chris, for helping more girls learn about STEM careers, thereby enriching the field as a whole.
