For the past 2 years, crime has gone down in Pasadena, except for domestic violence, which has been rising. Domestic violence is a complicated problem, which may involve mental illness, substance abuse, deep gender divisions, self-esteem, poverty and more. But Pasadena has great nonprofits empowering many women who have experienced domestic violence.
In May, we wrote about starting a change management project for the Hoving Home, which provides a loving community devoted to rebuilding shattered lives that empowers women to fulfill their God-given purpose. During this period of change and growth, great things are happening at Hoving Home (HH), allowing them to help even more women. The Pasadena HH Executive Director, Rebecca, was promoted to a position with the national organization, and the Pasadena house has a great new Executive Director, Michael Hope! JRP helped HH manage these changes, both at the local and national level, by matching thought partner Angelica Clark with Rebecca as a sounding board for how to plan for needed growth without being sidelined by rapid change.
Many thanks to Angelica for sharing her time and talent and to Hoving Home for empowering marginalized women. With great resources like Hoving Home, Pasadena will be able to reverse the trend of domestic violence.
